Humanitarian missions

Driving on mined roads, through shelling, or across half-destroyed bridges...

Since the beginning of the war, our volunteers have made about ten trips to towns and villages that were liberated from the occupiers. About 2,000 people received help from us. There, they are still forced to live in basements because their homes have been razed to the ground by the Russians. They cook, not in the kitchen of their apartment, but on the hearth in the middle of the apartment yard. Everyone was affected by the war.

One of the men in the photo is Nazar from Bucha. He was led to the execution four times by the Russians. For the first time, when they saw the Ukrainian flag in the apartment, photos and messages of thanks from our military on the walls of his apartment. All these times, the Russians were stopped by the grandmothers, who simply knelt before them and asked to release Nazar, or better yet, to kill them too: "Without him, we will not survive here."

- I have been a volunteer since 2014, I know firsthand what war is. But this time I did not expect that everything would happen so instantly. Just one morning, an armored personnel carrier appeared in our yard and an inspection of the apartments began immediately, - says Nazar.

He and a dozen other people still live in the basement. The temporary home was arranged in the former gym. Pregnant women slept on big toys, the rest - just on the floor. Here, people have an iconostasis on toilet paper packages.

- Opposite in the cottage town settled Russian soldiers. Our watches and phones were taken away ... But we knew exactly when this happened - 4 p.m. At exactly this time, they opened fire on us. Then we all prayed together in front of the icons. Maybe they saved us. After all, in addition to shots, orcs simply walked through the basements, asking if there were people, throwing two or three grenades, and that's it. One day, I couldn't stand it and went to them.

"You kill us or give us a watch." . I asked them : "Why are you constantly shooting at us?"

- They answered: "We need to adjust our weapons."

People here, despite having witnessed horrors, continue to live. To do this, they need the following: water, food, personal hygiene, and ordinary human understanding.

From the beginning of the war, we took over the released settlements of the Kyiv region, Chernihiv region, Kharkiv region ... sent more than 20 tons of humanitarian aid. It's a drop in the ocean. Each of you can do much more for these people. Any amount is extremely important.
